What is private counselling?
Private counselling is a form of talking therapy used to help people deal with the symptoms of mental health conditions and emotional issues that stem from specific life events. There are certain areas in which private counsellors specialise, including bereavement marriage and relationships, and career development.
Our private counsellors at Psymplicity will help you to understand your symptoms, whether they’re physical symptoms such as rapid heart rate or emotional symptoms such as stress over your relationship or family dynamic. Through talking about your emotions and prescribing certain types of therapy, such as CBT, they’ll teach you coping mechanisms and may ask you to do certain tasks to stop the issue from continuing to hinder your life.
At Psymplicity, we provide you with the personalised care and attention you need. Following a comprehensive initial assessment of your unique needs and circumstances, we will develop a bespoke treatment plan that will enable you to manage the issue effectively.
What can private counselling help me with?
No matter what your concern, our counsellors are all under one roof and can help with an extensive range of emotional issues, and work towards treating the symptoms of many mental health conditions.

What is Private Counselling Like at Psymplicity?
As a form of talking therapy, private counselling is a tried-and-tested method for treating a range of mental health concerns. Private counselling at Psymplicity not only helps you to deal with specific life events and the sometimes long-lasting impact they can have, but it also helps to identify your individual strengths to make sure that the solution complements your life.
After an in-depth initial assessment, your counsellor will establish your goals and the duration of your therapy. You and your counsellor will discuss and agree on how many sessions you need, with regular check-ins along the way to monitor progress and how far you’ve come.
This is not a static number, and it may be that you come to the end of your treatment period and decide you need additional support. On the other hand, you may attend half of your total counselling sessions and be pleasantly surprised by how much it has helped. Our priority is your wellbeing, and we can adjust treatment as necessary to support you.
Every private counselling session will focus on your specific goals and involve a combination of dialogue and experimentation. Outside of your counselling sessions, your counsellor may ask you to complete small tasks to apply what you’ve learned and discussed and gradually embed it into your everyday life.
