Doctor James Walsh's approach

Dr Walsh completed his Medical Degree at the University of Bristol and his Psychiatric training at South West London and St George’s Mental Health Trust. He is dual trained in general adult psychiatry.

Dr Walsh has held senior clinical positions, employed as a Consultant Psychiatrist within the NHS, providing clinical leadership to multi-disciplinary colleagues within Adult Community Assessment and Recovery Teams, Acute Inpatient Services and designed and led an innovative and successful new Psychiatric Decisions Unit. He currently is employed at Psymplicity alongside his role working at and leading a private Rehabilitation, Recovery and Personality Disorders Unit.

Dr Walsh is a consultant psychiatrist who has vast experience in diagnosis, treatment and management of a variety of mental illnesses such as Adult ADHD, depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar affective disorder, psychotic disorders, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder and personality disorders.

Dr Walsh is committed to delivering excellence in mental health care and takes an empathic, holistic and person centred approach towards caring for his patients. This includes addressing biological, psychological, emotional and social factors via a comprehensive assessment process and formulating a bespoke treatment service that aims to help individuals achieve optimal mental wellbeing, empowering them to pursue and achieve their life goals.

He has led a number of quality improvement projects within the NHS including designing, setting up and leading new services and treatment pathways. He has been clinical lead within NHS Trusts for physical health care and pharmacological therapies, producing evidence based, best practice guidelines and policies. He is also passionate about education and has completed a PGcert in Healthcare and Biomedical Education and has provided supervision and teaching for medical students, psychiatric trainees and presented at Psychiatric National conferences.
