Doctor Kapil Kashyap's approach

Dr Kashyap completed his medical training in India and Psychiatry training in Edinburgh rotation and in Leicester. He has been working as a consultant in Old Age Psychiatry in the NHS since 2013.
Over that period, he had worked as inpatient consultant, consultant in the community mental health teams, liaison psychiatry in district hospitals and in challenging behaviour teams for Dementia. He is also experienced in the application of Electro convulsive therapy in older adults.

Dr Kashyap is particularly interested in the interface between physical health problems and mental health conditions of older adults and had successfully completed the Diploma in Geriatric Medicine under the Royal College of Physicians in London. He has been trained to assess and manage patients with memory problems in all age groups and functional illnesses that affect older adults. He is very patient friendly doctor and had received excellent feedback through patients and colleagues feedback. He aims to provide highest quality of evidence-based clinical care to his patients. He has completed his MRCPsych (UK) and Diploma in Clinical Psychiatry under the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland and Diploma of Legal Medicine under the Royal College of Physicians Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine.

Dr Kashyap has been involved in numerous teaching and training sessions on mental health conditions for staff in the acute hospitals and trainee doctors as a part of his liaison psychiatry role and was involved in public awareness programme on Dementia for the members of public in India. He is one of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MSNAP) reviewers of memory services in England which look at the standards of service delivery and quality for such units. He has been an examiner for the General Medical Council PLAB unit for the last few years. He has involved in number of service improvement projects including audits and research and complaint investigations.
