Dr Magdum takes a very practical approach in assessing the mental health of a person by way of taking into account the holistic tragectory of one’s lifespan and siginficant events affecting their well being. Combined with decades of experience in psychiatric clinical practice and embracing the newer scientific based treatment approaches, her clinical acumen has helped many patients.

Clinical Experience

Dr Magdum originally qualified as a psychiatrist in India, she moved to the UK in the 90’s. All of her career has been in the field of psychiatry and she
is experienced in almost all psychiatric
subspecialties. Over the years has managed patients both in the private sector and in the NHS.

She has carried out Mental Health Act assessments as a sec 12 approved doctor & Mental capacity assessments as a medical assessor for over 22 years. Most of her clinical cases are complex mental health cases for which she initiates treatments and manages their mental health. This includes cases with ADHD, Autism and psychosis.

She also served as an approved Clinician inpsychiatry for a few years in Wales.
She has significant experience in doing psychiatric assessments for Courts, Coroner’s hearings & Mental Health Tribunals.

Currently she also does voluntary work in assessing medical doctor’s applications for Mental Health Act section 12 work and approves
their applications and also sits on the Approved clinician’s (AC) panel for approval of AC applications for the south east division of the UK.

The psychiatrist I spoke to made me feel seen and heard for the first time in my life. I always felt like an oddball when explaining my symptoms to a g.p. Yet, today I was made to feel understood. I cannot thank him enough for his help today. To realise it wasn’t all because I was a bad kid, it was because I have autism and a.d.h.d. Has made me feel compassion towards myself instead of shame.

The process was so straightforward and simple. I wish I had done this sooner. All the years of anxiety and feeling different, changing myself to fit with people. I could cry with relief. I've suspected for years but still doubted that an assessment/diagnosis would clarify things, more just say I needed to concentrate or pay attention. However, it explains everything and I feel freed and validated for the first time in my whole life.
